The Art of Self-Control

Having control of oneself is essential to the game of life.  Our bodies crave this desire or that fix.  Instant gratification attempts to fill the void. Our minds are full of endless chatter about what we think, believe, and feel.  Our emotions get the better of us if we let them run wild.  If left unchecked, the pitfalls are many.  Harnessing the mind with focused attention and denying the body’s longing is rewarding yet not easy.

If we have the will to change, and control one’s temptations, we become more available to ourselves and others.  Instead of jumping down rabbit holes of distraction, we can sit in the void and coax the Muse to surface. A united force of the body and mind, free from inner turmoil, can radiate confidence, strength and access deep wells of creativity.

Taming the mind can be challenging yet it is worth the effort to change destructive patterns.  A lot of self-talk can be negative and self-defeating.  For example: I’m not skinny enough, I’m not pretty enough, nobody likes me, and I’m so stupid.  Words cast spells in our reality without us even knowing that it’s happening.  There can be an inner critic or a belief that was implanted somewhere along the way that runs our program behind the scenes.

Thoughts become things and the medium of the holographic universe agrees.  It takes discipline to rewrite our experience code.  The lowest vibration of depression and discord is a trap we can easily fall into. Then, we do whatever we need to do to make it stop.  Keeping a keen eye on what trips our systems allows us a pivot into something more productive and supportive.
